You all must have seen the "favicon" or simply we can say "favorite icon" in the url of many blogs?
Just like the icon shown below in the image:

You can create such icons in 2 sizes – 16x16 and 32x32 – I think a 16x16 icon is preferable since it is readable in most older browsers.

Go back to your Blogger dashboard and under the Template tab, go to “Edit HTML”. Near the top you will see a line like this:-

Just below this code add the following code depending upon the icon format:

If you have a PNG format image, the link to insert is:-

If it is a GIF format image, the link is:-

NOTE:'URL of your icon ' is the address where you have saved your icon file.

For getting online image icons for your blog URL you can just enter the keywords “online icon generator” into Search Bar, and you should be able to find several programs that you can try.

MULTI-CORE Chip??Will it be the next GEN-wonder??

Have you ever heard of a cliche-"Many Hands make work light,'but does the theory work well enoughl in the IT semi-conductor industry as well?SO lets find an answer to that ;)..Chip makers AMD,IBM,Intel and Sun are now introducing 'multi-core' chip for servers,desktops,and laptops.Intel is working on the latest generation '16 multi-core'chip project,which means that this semi-conductor device can deliver a performance equivalent to 16 separate and integrated single-core chips.
But the question really is-is sophistication better in this regard??The fact is that multi-core chips have become so complicated and so qualitatively different from their predecessors that even IT giants like Microsoft & Apple feel software writers are flummoxing;strange that these words come from entities which religiously believe in innovation and continuous progressive change....
Multi-core chips are the biggest leap forward,and the most(conceptually) different in the history of modern computing since Intel introduced the 32-bit 386 architecture chip in 1985.And after years of growth,today,the semiconductor industry,though not in coma yet,has decide to rest for a moment to ponder over this new fiercely debated phenomenon.

Manufacturers are making chips with multiple cooler- running,more energy-efficient processing cores instead of one increasingly powerful core.But the problem here is that in world where energy saving mechanisms are being introduces,systems running on multi-core chips would necessarily consumer more power,though they may be super mult-taskers(By improving overall performance by handling more work in parallel).Though researchers are arguing that multi-cores are just a way to extend Moore's law(which states that number of circuits on a given chip size doubles every decade) so that the user gets more performance out of a piece of silicon,it has become a sales-threatening prospect for the PC industry.It has been experimentally proven that with multi-core chips(with six or more cores),your favourite applications would actually perform slower than many ordinary chips working in parallel.That raises the fear that customers will hold off buying on the next generation of computers,thus landing a big dent on their sales figures.

During the past,computer processors were made to run faster to meet performance expectation.Applications were also developed on the philosophy of making a single computer brain run faster for performance.But today,the scenario has completely change."If we run through the history of computers,the machines has never become slower than before.It may be that our expectations from these machines have gone up,it could also be that the workload on these systems and hence the number of applications that run at the number of applications that run at the same time have increased drastically."asserts Vamsi Krishna,Sr.Manager-Technical,AMD India.In fact it's not only number of applications,not just functionally,but also visually.As the usage of computers become wider,the risk of protecting these computers also become complex.Above all.the workload pressure band decreasing patience level also makes us feel that computers have become slower ;)

Strangely here,old really feels gold with single core chips delivering higher speed of performance and work delivery in a given interval as compared to multi-cores which actually delay task.So do the very motive of devising multi-cores which actually delay tasks.So do the creatures of chips admit this fact??
Indeed!The creatures of multi-core chips admits that they are causing trouble.Even as Intel executive accepted that parallel computing is big problem and to tackle the challenge they are hiring many more software engineers.

"The multi-core approach has some complications from application point of view.there are several adjustments to be done on the existing software to maximise the utilization of the computing resources provided by multi-core processors."

The one major problem that arises making powerful processors is power consumption and speed of operations..Now what the solution???well the solution is to adapt multiple codes on one dye architecture.To take advantage of multi-core processors vendors must re design applications.so that they can recognise each core's speed and memory access capability as well as how fast cores can communicate with one another.But it is really a challenge for the semi-conductor industry to create software that is multi-threaded.

Indeed,given the increasing emphasis on multi-core chip design,and keeping tab on the thermal and power consumption problems posed by any further increase in processor speeds,the extent to which software can be multi-threaded to take advantage is likely to be the greatest constraint on computer performance in the future.

India's wireless juggernaut refuses to slow down.With over 300 million mobile subscribers already in,and the number expected to reach a whopping 500 million by 2010,little surprise that business honchos across sectors are sitting up and taking note.More recent-taking note.More recently,media tycoon Anil Ambani-led reliance ADAG's social networking site(SNS)-BIG ADDA has launched its mobile version to encash on this wireless frenzy.

CHRISTENED as mobile adda,is it for the first time that a SNS has been made available on mobile.Similar to its online counterpart,Mobile Adda boasts all features of BIG ADDA like sending personalized friend requests,photo scribbles,emotions,et al.

Big Adda already has 40 million internet users and going mobile,they plan to net another 50 million users for their social networking overtures.Mobile Adda will have the advantage of exploiting the inhabited WAP sites,which other SNS like Orkut and facebook do not have access to for India-Centric mobile phones.Mobile Adda is also expected to have an edge over other SNSs as it will enable its users to access social networking while on the move and in places where there is no Internet connectivity.

With this,Ambani junior is aspiring to generate revenues to the tune of $4-5 million a year.And interestingly ,they say that more than 80% of the revenues will come from advertising.Listening marketers??:O

What are 3G phones?

Third generation mobile technology or 3G technology is just one more stage in the transformation of the mobile phone from a simple communication device to a multi-function device.It was launched for the first time in Japan in 2001.

The technology which uses higher bandwidth will enable users to send and receive data at speeds from 114 to 2000kbps(or 2megabits per second)depending on whether the user is stationary or in motion which is way over(6 to 35 times more) the speed offered by regular landline modem.
Hence a 3G system can be used as a modem for latops to get access to the internet and it can take on the role of a WAN(Wide Area Network) or LAN(Local Area Network).The goals of this new protocol are high quality multi-media and advanced global roaming (in house,cellular,satellite).

How Different were the earlier generation phones?

The first generation phones introduced in the 1980s used analog radio technology.Japan launched the first commercial mobile phone system in 1979.By the early 1990s,the second generation or 2G phones had completely replaced the first generation.The main difference was that 2G phones were digital,which meant that the voice itself during a call is encoded to digital signals whereas in 1G it is only modulated to higher frequency,typically 150Mhz and up.
The other major advancement was that 2G phones allowed text messaging(SMS).2G networks were built mainly for voice data and slow transmission.
But with rising user expectations the networks soon moved on to the networks soon moved on to the 2.5G phones with General Packet Radio Service(GPRS) that enables mobile phones to access certain websites.However GPRS can only go up to 144 bits per second compared to 3G's 2 Megabits per second speed.Colored screens with came-featured mobile phones,gaming and MP3 music were also introduced at the 2.5G stage.

What are the new services that 3G promises?

Two main services are M commerce(Mobile Commerce) and global positioning.A 3G user can access,organize and carry out financial transactions,trade stocks,manage payment etc.Global positioning enables the user to know their current location,get information about traffic conditions and directions to reach a certain place.Live streaming of radio and television to 3G handsets is seen as the future with some companies recently announcing these services.

How popular are 3G phones?

3G networks worldwide had 295 million subscribers by the end of 2007,which is about 9% of the worldwide subscriber base.The 3G Telecom Services generated over $120 billion dollars in revenues during 2007.
In many markets,the majority of new phones activated were 3G phones.Second generation phones have been almost completely phased out in Japan and South Korea.Many mobile phone users are witching to 3G phones saying it is no more just a phone or an advanced communication system but like a mobile personal computer.

What is the next anticipated development of mobile phones?

Work has already started on the next generation 4G phones,which it is claimed will be 50 times faster than 3G phones and this enhanced capacity is expected to enable three Dimensional renderings and other virtual experiences on the mobile phone.
This phone,which is expected to be out by 2010,is expected to be able to receive data at 100 Mb per second on the move and up to 1GB per second while static.An entire DVD could be downloaded within a minute !
The technology being worked on is supposed to increase download speeds by using multiple radio frequencies to send the same data stream.
